Why BYCIG?
The Brooklyn Youth Charitable Investment Group (BYCIG) offers ambitious high school students a hands-on introduction to finance, investing, and social impact. Through speaker events, mentorship, and a collaborative portfolio challenge, members gain real-world experience while building a strong professional network. Join BYCIG to learn how money moves—and how you can use it to make a difference.
Investing
The investing team is the crown jewel of the BYCIG. Our investment team members meet once a month to share insights from their asynchronous learning. In each cluster meeting they discuss ideas, ask questions, and hear from experts. The hallmark of this team is the monthly investment proposal to the Investment Advisory Committee. If done well, these pitches influence where the BYCIG invests its charitable fund capital.
Executive Leadership
At BYCIG, we operate like a true corporation, aiming to place all members in leadership roles. These opportunities span various areas, including education, operations, sector-specific research, and marketing.
Operations
Fundraising
The fundraising team at plays a vital role in making the organization’s mission possible by actively soliciting donations. As a core pillar of the group, they ensure the charitable fund has the necessary capital to support impactful investments and community initiatives. By engaging with donors and managing outreach, this team provides the financial foundation that allows other departments, like the investing team, to execute their goals and create a lasting social impact.
Web development
The web development team, led by CTO Linus Raphaely, focuses on making the website clear and functional while streamlining the organization’s processes through backend automation and data organization. The team is currently focused on developing a complete member portal (which includes a full investment proposal system and learning platform) and overhauling BYCIG’s backend system.
